چکیده
The features and morphometrics of the sailfish's osteocranium are examined in this study (Istiophorus platypterus, Shaw & Nodder, 1792). I. platypterus has a total weight ±20 kg with length ±218 cm. stages research process included preparing samples, osteocraniums, documenting photos, editing images, identifying terminology related to osteocraniums. Laboratory Mathematics Natural Sciences at Almuslim University handled every aspect research. preparation was carried out physically chemically. Each bone documented using camera edited Adobe Photoshop CS6. neurocranium is divided into four components: olfactory (ethmoidal), which comprises 6 bones. orbitale 4 bones, otic 5, occipital branchiocranium five oromandibular structure consisting 3 mandibular arc (suspensorium) composed opercular apparatus hyoid branchial

Trophic size-structure of sailfish Istiophorus platypterus in eastern Taiwan estimated by stable isotope analysis.
To examine trophic dynamics over different size classes, an isotopic study of sailfish Istiophorus platypterus life-history stages was carried out. Samples were collected from eastern Taiwan and the South China Sea during April 2009 and February 2012. A total of 263 samples (111-245 cm, lower jaw fork length, LLJFL ) were examined for changes in trophic structure in relation to LLJFL by using s...
متن کاملHydrodynamic Characteristics of the Sailfish (Istiophorus platypterus) and Swordfish (Xiphias gladius) in Gliding Postures at Their Cruise Speeds
The sailfish and swordfish are known as the fastest sea animals, reaching their maximum speeds of around 100 km/h. In the present study, we investigate the hydrodynamic characteristics of these fishes in their cruise speeds of about 1 body length per second. We install a taxidermy specimen of each fish in a wind tunnel, and measure the drag on its body and boundary-layer velocity above its body...
متن کاملSubmarine landslides along the Malacca Strait‐Mergui Basin shelf margin: Insights from sequence‐stratigraphic analysis
[1] The enormously destructive tsunami of December 2004, caused by sudden motion of the Sunda megathrust beneath the Indian Ocean, raised concerns about tectonically induced tsunami worldwide. Submarine landslides may also trigger dangerous tsunami. However, the potential and repeat time for such events is in most places poorly known due to inadequate exploration of the sea floor and age constr...

Major degraders of petroleum hydrocarbons in tropical seas have been indicated only by laboratory culturing and never through observing the bacterial community structure in actual environments. To demonstrate the major degraders of petroleum hydrocarbons spilt in actual tropical seas, indigenous bacterial community in seawater at Sentosa (close to a port) and East Coast Park (far from a port) i...
